Tonight at sunset begins the Feast of Pentecost known in Hebrew of Shavout. I don’t know why this is not a bigger recognition with the church than it has been, but with Adonai, our Heavenly Father it is a BIG DEAL!
The two numbers that correspond with Pentecost is the number 40 and the number 50. In the Hebraic understanding of 40 it is a number for cleansing and gaining understanding. When it rained for 40 days and 40 nights in Noah’s time, God was cleansing the earth of all the evil. The 40 days the children of Israel walked from Red Sea to Mt. Sinai God was cleansing them of the defilement and mindsets of the 400 years of bondage in Egypt. According to Deuteronomy it took Israel 40 years of wilderness for them to fully understand who God was.
In Hebrew, 40 is the number of water. In fact a Mikvah in Israel where Rabbi’s would dip to be cleansed for teaching of the Torah, even Jesus was accustomed to this had 40 units of water in the baptismal/mikvah. Moses was on Mt.Sinai for 40 days. During this 40 days God was giving him the Torah the first five books of the Bible. On the 50th day God gave His Ten Commandments to Him by His own finger writing them on two tablets. The Ten Commandments are the summary of the Torah which represents the Word of God. In Hebraic understanding the Ten Commandments are not “the Law” but “God’s Instructions.
Watch this! The 40 days from Yeshuah’s resurrection to His ascension according to Acts chapter 1, Jesus was teaching and instructing to the disciples the mysteries of the His Gospel. What Moses and Israel did not get in 40 days in the Old Testament, Jesus was redeeming and giving in the New Testament before His Ascension.
On the 50th day God gave Moses the Ten Commandments or the summary of the Torah His Living Word. Fifty has a numerical value in Hebrew of Milk. On Mt. Sinai God was birthing Israel as a nation. In Acts 2 on the day of Pentecost when the Holy Ghost was poured out, God was birthing the New Testament Church. Fifty has the numerical value in Hebrew as milk and the word. You must have the milk to give to infant church to carry out God’s commission to the world. Mixed with the Power of the Holy Ghost to reveal God’s redemptive plan to the world.
I find it interesting that during this 50 day journey in the natural there has been a shortage of baby formula. I believe it is symbolic or representative in the natural of what is going on in the spiritual in America. There is a shortage of the milk of the word. In the natural babies can’t grow and mature with out formula/milk. Likewise, in the spiritual too.
Tonight as we enter in the Feast of Pentecost for this year, what would you like for the Holy Ghost to cleanse you and change in your life? Like in the upper room, this is a good time to read, Acts 1 and 2 and the book of Ruth. The two Tablets represent the Word of God and His Spirit with Power. The book of Ruth is during this season of Pentecost. The story of Ruth a gentile and Boaz a Jewish brethren coming together to produce the lineage of the David and the Messiah Himself, Yeshua.
