What time is it? In the Spiritual Calendar what is significant about today, May 26,2022?
Several weeks ago, we began this 49-day experience known as “Counting the Omer” —participating in God’s direction to the Children of Israel as found in Deuteronomy 16:9-12. This journey commenced at Passover and will culminate at Pentecost (Shavuot in Hebrew), this June 5-6, 2022/5782.
Although we have not yet arrived at Pentecost, today is noteworthy as one of the most spiritually significant days of the year. Today is known as Ascension Day—when our Lord ascended into heaven. We need to pause and realize that this day brings TWO meaningful promises with it:
1) The promise of the indwelling Presence and Power of Holy Spirit, and
2) The promise of Yeshua’s return—our Blessed Hope!
Like the psalmist David, encourage yourself in the Lord today. Your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit whom our Father gave to those original 120 believers ten days following the Ascension. You have the emboldening Presence of God Himself dwelling in you! And no matter how difficult things may be right now, we have this confident expectation: our God will ultimately set everything right.
You see, at His first coming, Yeshua was the Lamb of God, but at His Second Coming, He will be the Lion of the Tribe of Judah. We are awaiting a victorious King who promised to return!
After saying all this—while they were watching—He was taken up, and a cloud received Him out of their sight. While they were staring into heaven as He went up, suddenly two men stood with them in white clothing. They said, “Men of Galilee, why do you keep standing here staring into heaven? This Yeshua, who was taken up from you into heaven, will come in the same way as you saw Him go into heaven.” – Acts 1:9-11 (TLV)
