The 11th Biblical Month of Sh’vat

This past Sunday night Began the 11th Biblical Month of Sh’vat/Shevat: Here is some insights to the Biblical month of Sh’vat.

Last month was the month to Grow Up in the biblical calendar. This month of Sh’vat is the month to Grow Down as to grow your walk with God deep. A picture of this month is Psalms 1. Psalms 1 is a comparison of two people. One, who is like a tree planted by the water who does not wither and the other person who’s leaf fades away and does not prosper.

Psalms 1 says, “Blessed is the man Who walks not in the counsel of the [a]ungodly,
Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful;
2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD, And in His law he [b]meditates day and night.
3 He shall be like a tree Planted by the [c]rivers of water,
That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither;
And whatever he does shall prosper.

To Grow Deep this month one should look to who they are allowing to influence them. This is the month to be influenced by the Holy Spirit. A tree needs nourishment to grow deep roots. According to Psalm 1 that river is the Holy Spirit. Who is brining You Water? Of course, this is the month of Living Water, King Yeshua. Allow the washing of the Word of God to cleanse you and wash you this month.

Another way to grow deep roots is through fertilizer. Fertilizer is food for the root system. Psalms 1 tells us that is meditating on the Word of God and delighting in the Law of God is spiritual fertilizer. How do we do that? Meditating on God’s word both day and night.

Debbie and I pray this prayer every morning. “Father, my mind is renewed by the word of God. Therefore, I forbid thoughts of failure and defeat to enter my mind.”

Another words, this is the month to Eat the Word of God. How is your appetite? We are not to be like the other man in Psalms 1 who sits in the seat of sinner and meditates on worldly pleasures. Instead, we are to hunger and thirst after righteousness. To grow deep spiritual roots this month we are to train our appetite to crave God’s word. Oh, Taste and see that the Lord is good. Yum!

This is the month to Consider your Decisions. This is the month to walk in Righteousness. Righteousness means, “Right Standing with God.” There is no way we can be righteous in and of ourselves. That is why, Yeshua, King Jesus went to the Cross. He is righteous so we can be in right standing with God. That is a lot to think about. Again, be like a tree planted by the water/Holy Spirit.

The month of Sh’vat corresponds with the Tribe of Asher. The tribe of Asher were farmers. They knew how to cultivate and grow lush fruit and vegetables. Have you seen the fruit in Israel? They are Big and Juicy. This is the month for you to be in Goodness, Fatness, and God’s Pleasure. This is the month of Provision just as the tribe of Asher provided food for all of Israel. A phrase we should be repeating daily in this month is. “MY BLESSINGS ARE ON THE WAY!”

Finally, this is the month to let your Roots awaken to the “RIVER OF LIFE.” How many remember the song, “I’ve got a river of life flowing out of me. Cause the lame to walk and the blind to see. Opens prisons doors, sets the captive free. I’ve got a river of life flowing out of me. Spring up, Oh well, Splish, Splash! I’ve got a river of life flowing out of me. That is a picture of this month.

Our prayer for you this month is: In the Name of Yeshua, King Jesus I am like a tree planted by the rivers of water. I bring forth fruit in my season, my leaf will not wither, and whatever I do will prosper. The grace of God makes my mistakes to prosper. Psalms 1:3.
