Tonight at Sunset begins God’s Appointed Day of Atonement/Yom Kippur. To Understand this Highest Holy Day is to know that this is the day when God seals the Book of Records and Lambs Book of Life for another year 5782.
Revelations 20: 11 Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away. And there was found no place for them. 12 And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before [c]God, and books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to their works, by the things which were written in the books. 13 The sea gave up the dead who were in it, and Death and Hades delivered up the dead who were in them. And they were judged, each one according to his works. 14 Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second [d]death. 15 And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire.
Moses knew who originated the Book of Life. When he pleaded with God atop Mount Horeb after the children of Israel committed the great sin of the golden calf, he cried, “Alas, this people has committed a great sin, and they have made a god of gold for themselves. But now, if Thou wilt, forgive their sin—and if not, please blot me out from Thy book which Thou hast written!” (Exodus 32:31, 32.) So God Himself is the author and keeper of the Book of Life.What is recorded in the book? According to the Bible, everything! King David remarks that even his tears are entered in that heavenly journal. (Psalm 56:8.) The Psalmist also speaks of the fact that the days that were ordained him were written in God’s book before he was even born. (Psalm 139:16.) And who will be blotted out of the book? God’s response to Moses’ plea for the children of Israel was “Whoever has sinned against Me, I will blot him out of My book.” (Exodus 32:33).
The good news is that Yeshua, King Jesus is our defense attorney and even though everything we’ve ever done is in the Book of Records and screams, QUILTY, He is standing in the court room of Heaven (Revelation 12) defending us against the accuser of brethren saying ACQUITED! Jesus sprinkled His own Blood on the Mercy Seat wiping away the handwriting against us, paying the debt/price for our sins, Colossians 2:14. If like me, you have trusted in Jesus death, burial, and resurrection for eternal life and turned from you wicked ways in repentance/Teshuvah, then your name is written in the Lambs Book of Life. Next to your name is NOT QUILTY! Wow, that means Satan, the accuser of the brethren has NO LEGAL RIGHTS! Can I get an Amen?
This is why I celebrate God’s Appointed Day of Atonement on His Calendar. In the Old Testament every year the High Priest would go into the Holy Holies to sprinkle the blood of a Lamb for the Atonement of Israel’s sin for another year. All of Israel gathered in Jerusalem to see if the High Priests who was suppose to be ceremonially clean would make it out alive. When he came out he would say this Blessing, ““The Lord bless you and keep you; The Lord make His face shine upon you, And be gracious to you; The Lord lift up His countenance upon you, And give you peace.” ’Numbers 6: 24-26, and all of Israel would rejoice because their sin was atoned. On this Day of Atonement would you honor, celebrate, worship, and rejoice that your Name is written in the Lambs Book of Life?
