Radical Discipleship

ELUL Day 13

The Biblical month of Elul is about Discipleship. Draw near to God and he will draw near to you. On Wednesday we celebrated 9/11. A small group of men, in the hundreds did this because they believed their Koran. They did this because of their faith. Evil though it may be it was because of dedication. If we don’t disciple our children someone and somebody will. Our next door neighbors are Mormon. Their oldest son gets up every morning to go to seminary at 6:30 before school to learn scriptures and the Book of Mormon. Wow what dedication! How many Christian families have this kind of purposeful discipline to teach their children the Scriptures.

Speaking of 9/11, Rabbi Joseph Shulman said, “This is reality! What can we, the disciples of Yeshua, Jews and non-Jews, do to change this sad and very destructive reality that is besetting the whole human race around the world? Here are some good principles that I want to share with you that might help.

A half-hearted man can never succeed to win a war with a fully dedicated and wholehearted person![ quote] The dedication factor is as important as having a better weapon and better trained soldier.

A “milk-toast” Christianity that is promoting halfhearted, weak, and soft, half-dedicated Christians will never win a battle with someone who is really willing to die, explode himself, in order to show his dedication and commitment to his god.

Reading the Bible, from Genesis to Revelation, you see that God demands His servants and communities to be singleminded and totally dedicated to the God, our Father, the Creator of the Universe. And to be motivated by love for humanity. What could be clearer than the demand of Yeshua from His disciples:”

“He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me.” – Matthew 10:37 [NKJV]

Shalom!
