60 The Number of Consecration and Ordination:

Passover To Pentecost a Fifty Day Journey. Today I celebrate with my wife, Debbie Laymon my 60th Birthday. To me numbers and words are very important. And since I have studied our Jewish Roots of Yeshua for the past 14 years now, I believe the decade of the sixties has significant meaning.

The 15th letter of the Hebrew Alphabet has the numeric value of 60. It is Samekh and the pictograph is like a Sheild. The root word for Samekh means, “to lean upon”, “to uphold”, or “to support.” The root is also found in “semikhah, the laying on of hands. Liken unto the Priest picking the sacrificial bullocks for the Holy of Holies would lay their hands on the head of the animal to consecrate it. Thus today the ordination ceremony is called a Semikhah. Also the Samekh is to represent the everlasting cycle of the Glory of Gods presence on the earth. The cycle of Gods Shekinah is revealed in both the seasons and in the rhythm of the Feasts of the Lord, His appointed time. (Mo’adim)
The number 60 represents the Priestly Blessing of Numbers 6: 23-27, “The Lord bless you and keep you. The Lord make his face to shine upon you, and be gracious unto you, and give your peace. So they shall put My name on the Children of Israel, and I will bless them.”
In the Hebrew there are 60 letters used in this passage with 15 words. The same as the root of Samekh which means and is a picture of Gods ordination.
The gematria of the letter Samekh is a picture of a person of faith who walks in miracles. And Psalms 145 is an acrostic of this Hebrew letter. God upholds the fallen and broken down and raises them up.
So let me just paraphrase what the decade of 60 means for me: God has ordained/consecrated me from the beginning of time to Preach Good news, setting the captive free. Releasing prison doors. Teaching the Feasts of the Lord, ushering the Glory of God by the laying of hands. Walking in faith and walking in miracles. Raising up the down trodden and broken in spirit.
This confirms what has been brewing deep in me. God is opening the doors for us to teach Jewish Roots of Christianity to the body of Christ and by the laying on of hands activating the Blessings of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in Christ Jesus, Yeshua HaMashiah. Happy Birthday!
