Today as we celebrate the crucifixion, death, and burial of our Lord Jesus Christ known as Good Friday, it actually is the Fulfillment of the Biblical Feast of Passover. This is the Biblical Year of 5776, the year of the “Nail”. In our Gregorian calendar of 2016 Holy Week and Feast of Passover are not at the same time. The Western Calendar is based on the solar and the Biblical Calendar is based on the moon. Thus for this year the Feast of Passover is in late April.
I have studied our Jewish roots of Christianity for over 13 years now. And I am always amazed at the Hebrew insights of the Word of God that I was never taught in the Evangelical church, colleges, or Seminaries. I am including some lengthy notes I had written several years ago about the parallels of Easter, Passover, and Purim. As you read, hopefully they will give you insights into this most Holy of Seasons and Sacred of Days.
Passover is celebrated on the first month of the Hebrew Calendar and Purim is celebrated in the last month. Passover is described as the beginning of redemption for mankind and Purim is described as the end. In Passover God redeemed the Israelites from 400 years of bondage and slavery in Egypt and in Purim God saved the Israelites from enialation from the gallows of Haman the prime Minister of Persia. God chose the night on the 14th day of Nisan to begin Passover (at the rising of the full moon) to begin redemption because the Egyptian believed the sign of Aries the ram guided the their firstborn sons and was most powerful during the full moon of that month. God began redempiton by bringing judgement on all the Egyptians gods. Especial the god of Aries that was suppose to be their heavenly guide. Note: IT WAS SLAIN AT THE VERY HOUR IT WAS SUPPOSE TO BE AT ITS STRONGEST.
SATAN AND ARIES: Aries and Satan were both heavenly beings. God created Lucifer (Isaiah 14 and Exekiel 28) and God created the constellations. The both describe as wanting to be God. The New Testament calls Satan, “the man of sin”, The bible records Jesus who knew no sin, became sin. (2 Corinthians 5:21)
In Hebrew the Garden of Gethesemne means to “press upon or press in”. It is an olive press. At the garden the sins of the world were pressed upon Yeshua. The arrest Trial and Crucifixion symbolized God’s indictment and judgement of Satan. From the moment God placed the sin of the world upon Jesus, He would not open his mouth. The reason, He did not want to defend Satan. In the Roman soldiers mockery, beating, stripping him and casting lots for his clothes, and declaring that he would rule and reign in heaven was how Satan would be stripped of his power and authority over mankind.
Jesus carried His own cross, being visible manisfestation of the weight of judgement that was on Satan’s shoulders. Jesus was humiliated in the streets of Jerusalem. He died a cruel and painful death signifying the immediate demise of Satans reign over us. Duet 21:23. Jesus was beaten until he was unrecognizable to show how repulsive sin is to God and he cannot look upon it. The Apostle Paul writes in Colossians 2:15, having canceled out the certificate of debt consisting of decrees against us, which was hostile to us; and He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. When He had disarmed the rulers and authorities, He made a public display of them, having triumphed over them through Him. (Colossians 2:14, 15 NASB)
HAMAN VERSUS MORDECAI: The book of Esther on the surface does look to have any significance for the month of Nissan and Passover. Yet it contains so man corresponding comparisons to the crucifixion it cannot be ignored.
The book of Esther is the story of another pending Hallocaust to destory the Jewish people by a man named Haaman. The name of the Jewish orphan girl who is raised up to become Queen of Persia is Eshter. Her name means “HIDDEN OR CONCEALED”. AS PART OF THE STORY OF ESTHER WHEN RETOLD BY JEWISH PARENTS TO THEIR CHILDREN, THEY YELL OUT “VEAHAFOCH HU”, the opposite happened. JUST LIKE WITH THE CRUFIXION OF CHRIST. The plot begins with Mordecai, a typology of Christ, refusing to bow to Haaman a typology of Chirst.
It was on Adar the 13th Haman betrayed the Jewish people by casting lots to determine the date to destroy them. (Esther 3:12). On that same day many years later Judas betrayed Jesus. Interestingly enough both Haaman and Judas were hung, being cursed by God.
Haaman went to the King of Persa to seek permission to kill all the Jewish people, Likewise Judas went to the High Priest and the Sanhedrin to seek permission to betray our Lord. Haaman agreed to a large sum of money. Judas agreed to thirty pieces of silver. The thiry pieces of Silver was the price that a slave was bought for. Haman built Gallows (Esther 5:14 resulting in his own hanging on the same Gallows he built for the Jews.
Satan planned to hang Jesus on a tree for His destruction, resulting in Satan’s ultimate destruction.
All of Haaman’s property was bequethed to Esther and the Jewish people. God promises to restore the fortunes of His people to the Promise Land. Mordecai was given Haaman’s authority and power, Jesus has given us all authority and power. Mordecai and Esther declared that the destruction of Haaman be an everlasting holiday called Purim which was on Nisan 14th.
God Passed over the Israelites in Egypt to save them from the death Angel on Nissan 14th and It was on the 14th Day of Nisan when Jesus said, “IT IS FINISHED”.
CAN WE ALL SAY, “VENAHAFOCH HU” THE OPPOSITE HAPPENED.
