I know there is a lot prognosticators during this time of the year. I don’t spend much energy upon all that is being said. What I do know is the word of God. The next 30 days is the greatest, anointed, blessed time for God’s people both Jew and Gentile who follow His timing and seasons. This Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, and Sukot is about God’s covenant. It is a time of repentance, Joy, Peace, and Restoration. Elul 29 is the last day of the Biblical Calendar for this year 5775. This is the end of Shemitah Year and with that historically, Nations are judged and Nations power can be changed. This is not necessarily seen then, but is played out over the next several years. It also enters to a the year of Jubilee, Isaiah 61 which is on September 13th and is all about restoration from the last 49 years. Rosh Hashanah means rams horn or turning in repentance. The ten days between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur is all about searching ones heart of all that has taken place, acted upon, or even spoken that was not God’s will. During the Blowing of the Trumpets God takes out our record each one and sees if we blessed Him and His Kingdom or we were a detriment. Rabbi’s teach this is the time of year where God determines whether we will live or die going into the next year. Yom Kippur is about the forgiveness of sin and the favor of God. Each year at Day of Atonement the High Priest would sprinkle blood and water on the altar to atone Israel of it’s sin. The Blood for the forgiveness of sin and water for favor and Blessings. On the cross when Jesus was crucified was the very minute this was happening at the Holy of Holies with Israel’s high priest. He shed His blood for sin and it’s curse to be destroyed and removed. The water came from the sack around His heart for God’s favor and blessing in our life. Actually, Jesus was Baptized by John the Baptist in the Jordan river during the Feast of Tabernacles at Rosh Hashanah. The Holy Spirit descended upon Him. The symbolism of water representing the Holy Spirit and Favor of God.
The month of ELUL which we are now in, is the month when the King leaves his palace to provide for his children. It is the story of Ruth and Boaz in the Old Testament book of Ruth. The King which is God, is the closest to us during this period to bless us. He is always with us and never sleeps or slumbers. He is 24/7 God. But three times a year is is closer than normal and during this month He is the closest. This is why we should spend Rosh Hashanah in repenting. It is like the sun. The sun always shines, but in August and September it is the hottest because it is the closest to the earth. In January it is shinning but further away. So rejoice and be full of joy, because this is the season of blessing and peace. Rabbi’s teach that this is the season when the Messiah will come. It is at Rosh Hashanah, the Blowing of Trumpets He will come. Thessalonians talked about “at the last trump.” No man knows the time when He will come again not even the devil, why? Because the Rosh Hashanah is two days and Yom Kippur is for two days and then is the seven days of Feast of Ingathering, called Tabernacles or Sukot. The devil doesn’t know which day it will be. It could be the first day of Rosh Hashanah or the second day. Thus is a time of repentance moving to atonement, then the great harvest. This is all part of this season. Lift up your head for your redemption draws nigh. AMEN!
